My transfer didn't go through

Last updated: July 14, 2026

Sometimes a transfer to a card can't be completed. If you see a message that the transfer didn't go through, don't worry, you can try again.

What to do

  1. Try a different card. The most common fix is to use another US-issued Visa or

Mastercard debit card, or Apple Pay or Google Pay.

  2. Make sure the card is a debit card (credit cards and non-US cards can't receive money).

  3. Complete the steps again to receive the money.

Why this can happen

  • The card entered was a credit card, a non-US card, or a card that can't receive funds.

  • Your bank or card issuer declined the transfer.

  • There was a temporary issue completing the transfer.

Good to know

  • A failed transfer doesn't mean the money is lost. The payment is still available for you to claim as long as the link hasn't expired.

  • If you keep having trouble, check with your bank to confirm your debit card can receive transfers.
