What to do if you think you've been scammed

Last updated: July 14, 2026

If you think you've been scammed or sent money to the wrong person, act quickly. Here's what to do.

1. Stop any further payments

Don't send any more money, and don't share any more information, including your one-time code, card details, or banking passwords. Scammers often come back for more.

2. Cancel the payment if you still can

If you sent a payment and the recipient hasn't claimed it yet, you may be able to cancel it. 📄 How to cancel a payment Once a payment has been claimed, it can't be reversed or refunded through Moov Money.

3. Contact your bank or card issuer

If you shared card or banking details, or a payment left your account, contact your bank or debit card issuer right away. They can advise on protecting your account.

4. Report it to Moov

Let us know what happened so we can help and take action to protect the network.

5. Change any exposed passwords or codes

If you shared a password, update it. Never reuse a one-time code, and don't share future codes with anyone.

6. Consider reporting to authorities

For scams and fraud, you can also file a report with your local authorities and, in the US, with the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov.

Good to know

The sooner you act, the more that can be done. Even if a payment can't be recovered, reporting it helps protect you and others going forward.
