How to spot and avoid scams
Last updated: July 14, 2026
Moov Money makes it easy to send money to people you know. But like any way to move money, scammers may try to trick you. The good news: a few simple habits will keep you safe.
The golden rule
Only send or accept money with people you know and trust. Moov Money is designed for paying friends, family, and people you actually know, not strangers online.
Warning signs of a scam
Someone you don't know sends you money, then asks you to send some or all of it back.
Someone pressures you to act urgently or threatens you if you don't pay.
Someone asks for the one-time code we texted you.
Someone asks you to pay a fee to "unlock," "verify," or "release" a payment.
You're asked to pay for something before you've received the goods or service (online marketplace deals, "too good to be true" offers, pets, rentals, tickets, prizes).
A message or link doesn't look right and the link doesn't start with
https://moov.money/.
Simple rules to stay safe
Never share your one-time code with anyone.
Only open links that start with
https://moov.money/.Don't send money to someone you don't know.
If a stranger sends you money and asks for a refund, don't send it back, it may be a scam.
Slow down. Scammers rely on urgency and pressure.
